If You Don’t Have Time, Read This

The 3 steps I used to take back control over my time.

I used to feel like I didn’t have time.

It’s funny, though, because that was also when I was getting the least done.

The reality? I only felt busy, but most of that time was spent procrastinating.

Now, I get more done—and I actually feel like I have time.

Here’s how I took control back.

The 3 Steps to Take Back Control

The key point is that you have time, it’s just choosing where to spend it.

1. Prioritize

The first step is getting your priorities straight.

Write down how you currently spend your time and how you want to spend it.

Include everything—scrolling through your phone, TV, all of it.

Then, order these from most important to least.

Work, working out, and eating clean are at the top for me.

Things like scrolling and TV barely make the list.

2. Time Restrain

Now that you’ve got your list, assign a time restraint to each activity.
Let’s say my priorities are:

  • Work: 4 hours

  • Workout: 2 hours

  • Eating clean: 2 hours

  • Family time: 1 hour

Make these time blocks tight.

If I have only 4 hours for work, procrastination has no place.

If I have 2 hours to work out, I’m not wasting time chatting at the gym.

Tight deadlines breed productivity.

3. Create a Routine

You’ve got your priorities and time blocks.

Now, turn those into a routine.

Some tasks will need to be broken down further—like eating clean, which I’ll spread out across the day.

And don’t forget to include things like travel time, prep time, or any transitions between tasks when creating your schedule.

I base my routine on my priorities:

  • Mornings: work

  • Afternoons: training

  • Evenings: family

This ensures that your most important priorities get done and get the most attention.

The Next Steps

Once you have your routine, stop thinking and just do it.

At first, it won’t feel natural. It’ll feel like an uphill climb.

You have to ignore that discomfort and push through.

Force the ball to roll, and over time, it’ll gain momentum.

After a couple of weeks, you’ll settle into your routine and it’ll feel automatic.

You’ll move through life in a flow state.

Procrastination and overthinking? A thing of the past.

Takeaway

By aligning your time with your priorities, you’ll feel like you’re getting the most out of your day.

By time-restraining, you’re forced to be as efficient as possible.

With a routine, you eliminate the need to think about how to spend your time—no more overthinking.
